Interface College's primary concern is its student body and staff. Therefore it is a goal of the school to have a safe and secure environment.
To All Students and Staff:
Be Careful. No one expects to be the victim of a crime or other emergency, but occasionally bad things happen.
Be alert to dangerous situations and keep yourself safe. If you witness a crime on campus or other emergency call the police by dialing 911. Also, notify your instructor or supervisor and/or the front desk.
All crime reports, including reports of forcible and non-forcible sex offenses, are to be routed to the Director of Student Services or to the Director of Instruction who will record the report. At the request of the victim, Interface staff will assist with notification of the proper law enforcement authorities. In situations where physical evidence is present, care should be taken to preserve that evidence for law enforcement authorities.
All Reports will be brought to the attention of the School Director who will initiate the school's response. In most cases students/staff will be required to file a police report as part of the school's response to the incident. Reasonable efforts will be taken to prevent the reoccurrence of any incidents.
Interface College does not have its own security personnel: local law enforcement agencies have jurisdiction.
Non-employee access to Interface facilities is controlled by each location's Supervisor of Instruction. At no times are areas of the school open without staff supervision. The classrooms & lab rooms of Interface College are only open for students, guests of students (by approval only), and staff. Unauthorized persons will not be allowed.
Because our student population consists predominantly of mature adults, and because there have been no previously reported incidents of crime on-campus, no regularly scheduled, formal, crime prevention programs will be offered by Interface College The Director of Administration maintains a log of all crimes reported that occurred on campus, on-campus arrests for liquor law violations, drug abuse violations and weapons possession
In order to prevent similar crimes, criminal activities that are viewed as a threat to students and/or staff will be brought to the attention of the campus community.
"On-campus" refers to the two facilities owned or leased by Interface College and the parking lots adjacent to these facilities are considered "public property immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus". Interface does not recognize any off-campus student organizations.
Information will be posted in student and staff areas listing the availability of community programs relating to sexual abuse. All students and staff are reminded that the school has in effect Policy 121, Policy on Drug and Alcohol Abuse, which includes legal sanctions and referral information.
At the students request, the school will make reasonable efforts to change a student's academic situation after an alleged sex offense. Students and school personnel are subject to termination if, as a result of the School Director's review of an alleged sexual assault, it is determined that they did commit a forcible or nonforcible sexual offense. In the event the School Director conducts a hearing regarding an alleged sexual assault, both the accuser and the accused are entitled to the same opportunities to have others present; and, both the accuser and the accused shall be informed of the outcome of the Director's disciplinary proceeding Security Procedures.
All students will receive a copy of the school's security policy and prior statistics as required by PL 101-542 and CFR 66847 prior to enrollment. Signed acknowledgment of receipt of this information is to be kept in the student's permanent file (See 143-x1). All new employees will receive a copy of the school's security policy and prior statistics as required by PL 101-542 and CFR 66847 prior to employment. Signed acknowledgment of receipt of this information is to be kept in the employee's personnel file (See 143-x1). Any prospective student or employee may receive a copy of the school's security policy and prior statistics as required by PL 101-542 and CFR 66847 upon request.
At least once a year the Director of Administration is to secure from each employee an affidavit documenting crimes on campus, and on-campus arrests for liquor law violations, drug abuse violations and weapons possession. The Director of Administration is to keep a daily log of all reported crimes on campus and on-campus arrests for liquor law violations, drug abuse violations and weapons possession. This log is to be available for review by prospective students, students, prospective employees and staff during regular business hours.
At no time are students or other non-employees to be allowed in classrooms, lab rooms or staff offices without staff supervision.
